Lean Six Sigma Training & Belt Certification
White Belt through Green Belt training delivered by a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt — alongside live projects, not in a classroom before the real work starts.
Lean Six Sigma Certification Programs
Certification that transfers to real improvement — not just a credential.
There are two ways to deliver Lean Six Sigma training. The first puts practitioners in a classroom, walks them through the Body of Knowledge, and certifies them on paper before they've applied anything to a real problem. That approach produces credentialed employees who struggle to lead their first project.
The second approach — the one we use — runs training concurrent with live improvement projects. Practitioners learn a concept and apply it the same week. They complete their certification through documented project work, not a written exam alone. By the time they're certified, they've solved a real problem using the methodology.
Bob Buckwalter holds the Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB) credential from ASQ and has trained practitioners across healthcare, financial services, banking, and higher education. Training programs are customized to your industry — no manufacturing case studies for a hospital team, no hospital case studies for a bank.
All training can be delivered in-person, virtually, or hybrid. Programs are typically delivered to cohorts of 8–16 practitioners over 8–20 weeks depending on Belt level.
Build an Internal PI Capability →White Belt
An introduction to Lean Six Sigma concepts for employees who will participate in improvement projects but not lead them. Two to four hours. Covers waste, variation, DMAIC basics, and the employee's role in a process improvement initiative. Ideal for frontline staff before a major project kicks off.
Yellow Belt
A foundational understanding of Lean Six Sigma for employees who will support improvement projects and contribute to data collection and analysis. One to two days. Covers basic process mapping, data collection methods, root cause tools, and control chart interpretation.
Green Belt
A working practitioner certification for employees who will lead improvement projects under Black Belt coaching. Typically 4–8 weeks of instruction plus a documented project. Covers the full DMAIC methodology, statistical analysis, process capability, hypothesis testing, and control plan development. The most common corporate deployment target.
Black Belt Preparation
Structured coaching and preparation for practitioners pursuing the ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB) exam. Covers the full CSSGB and CSSBB Body of Knowledge with case study application, exam strategy, and practice test review.
Why Customized Training Matters
Lean Six Sigma for service industries — not factory floors.
The Lean Six Sigma methodology was developed in manufacturing. Most training curricula still use manufacturing case studies — stamping presses, injection molding, inventory counts. That creates an immediate translation problem for practitioners in healthcare, banking, or higher education. They learn the tools but can't see how to apply them to their work.
Healthcare-specific training
Case studies using revenue cycle, patient throughput, discharge processes, and clinical documentation. Practitioners recognize the problems immediately.
Financial services training
Case studies using loan processing, claims management, reconciliation cycles, and compliance workflows. The methodology applied to the work your team actually does.
Higher education training
Case studies using enrollment, financial aid, research administration, and student services. Lean Six Sigma for administrative and academic operations.
